WELCOME TO GOVERNMENT COLLEGE DHARAMSHALA
The Foundation-Stone of the Old Main Block was laid on 4th May, 1912, by the then Punjab Governor Sir Laois Done. Brig Sherjung Thapa, Hero of Skardu(1948), the first awarded Mahavir Chakra, was student in the College in 1926. It was the initiative of the then Principal Shri Gomti Prasad that subject Geology started at this college even before the department began functioning in Punjab University Chandigarh. When it comes to Masters degree in Geology, Dharamshala College was the First College in Himachal Pradesh to introduce it in 1984.
