MASTER OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (MCA)
The college started Master of Computer Applications (MCA) w.e.f. session 2012-15 under the School of Computer Science & Engineering. It is a three year degree course spread over six semesters and is affiliated to H.P.T.U. Hamirpur and is approved by AICTE. The admission to this course is made on the basis of Entrance test conducted by H.P.T.U. Hamirpur. The department has requisite number of lecture seminar halls and well equipped AC computer laboratories having more than 60 latest computers with internet facility. The department provides industrial visits and training, seminars, workshops on latest software technologies and study tours to the students. The college has a career guidance and placement cell which is working very efficiently for the placement of students in MNCs.
The department has a well qualified and trained faculty as per AICTE norms. Our students have bagged seven university positions in 2018 MCA (1st Year), first five positions in MCA (2nd Year) and three positions in MCA (3rd Year) in the merit list of H.P.T.U. (1st year) This department is touching the heights of success with flying colours.
TOTAL SEATS: Total number of seats: 60 ADMISSION CRITERION (DIRECT ENTRY)
The admission to MCA first year degree course shall be made on the basis of merit of HPCET2019. In case the seats remain vacant after exhausting the merit of HPCET–2019, the remaining seats will be filled up on the basis of merit of recognized Bachelor Degree of minimum three years duration with Mathematics at 10+2 level or at Graduate level.

ELIGIBILITY:
Passed/appeared bachelor‟s degree or equivalent from recognized University with minimum three years duration and Mathematics at 10+2 or at degree level securing at least 50% marks (45% for reserved category) at the qualifying examination.
ADMISSION CRITERION (LATERAL ENTRY)
The admission to M.C.A. 2nd year degree courseshall be made on the basis of merit of marksobtained by the candidates in B.C.A., B.Sc.(IT/Computer Science)
ELIGIBILITY:
Recognized Bachelor‟sdegree of minimum three years duration in BCA, B.Sc.(IT/Computer Science) with Mathematics as a course at 10+2 level or at Graduate level securing at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidate belonging to reserved category).

AGE LIMIT:
Maximum age limit for admission to MCA course is 26 years for general category, 29 years for SC/ST category and 28 years for girl candidates, as on the 1st July of the year concerned. The Vice-Chancellor may permit age relaxation up to a maximum of six months.
Note: Examination Fees for every semester will be paid by the student.
University Development Fees is to be deposited by the students per year.
Date of Admission at Govt. Post Graduate College Dharamshala
Students will have to report for admission for MCA in Govt. PG College Dharamshala on as per the schedule of HPTU Hamirpur in the Deptt. of MCA. They have to fill up admission form which will be available along with the college prospectus and shall submit the same in the department of MCA. Once the admission is confirmed, they have to deposit fees otherwise the seat will be offered to the next candidate in the merit. After the verification of the documents in original and once the admission is confirmed, the students will deposit requisite fee in the State Bank of India, College Branch which is available in the college campus. After depositing the fee in the bank, they have to show the counterfoil of the fee deposited to the admission committee which will enter the same on the admission form and shall further issue the admission number to the student.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION IN MCA
English shall be the medium of instruction and examination. The pass marks shall be 40% in each written paper and in the internal assessment separately, and 40% in viva-voce, project work and semester course and 50% in the aggregate subject to the conditions that aggregate shall be determined at the end of the examination. Other rules shall be as per the rules of the university.
HOUSE EXAM / MID TERM EXAM : Mid term examination is held after the completion of more than 50% of the syllabus. Any student who does not appear in mid term exam will not be allowed to sit in final term exam and shall be liable to be fined as per college rules. Internal assessment of the students will also be determined on the basis of the marks otained in mid term exam and regular attendance in the class.
THEORYPAPERS:
Each paper will be of 100 marks (60 marks for theory exam and 40 marks for internal assessment) and duration of each paper will be 3 hours. In each theory paper, nine questions are to be set. Two questions are to set from each Unit and candidate is required to attempt at least one question from each unit. Question number nine will be compulsory, which will be of short answer type with 5-10 parts, out of the entire syllabus. In all, five questions are to be attempted.

Marks distribution for Industrial Training and Project
Internal Ex50 Marks will be awarded by internal examiner on the bases of Synopsis (2), Presentation (2), Concept & Design of the Project, Contribution in the Project and Project Report.
External Examiner 50 Marks will be awarded by external examiner on the bases of Project Report and Vive-Voice. The Project Report (20 Marks), End Semester External Vive-Voice (30 Marks).
Note: 1. In 3rd year (Sixth semester) the student has to develop one project, which will be evaluated by the internal examiner and external examiner. Internal examiner will be appointed by respective college principal or director. External examiner will be appointed by Himachal Pradesh Technical University, Hamirpur.
- Student have to follow Annexure-I to VIII for Project report.
RULES RELATED TO LEAVE
a. General Leave Rules
- Student can proceed on leave with prior For this, they should fill in the leave forms to be supplied to the students
- A tutor can recommend leave upto 3 days; for longer duration e. up to 5 days, a student must get the application signed by the Senior Tutor. In case Sr. Tutor is on leave the application may be got signed by the Tutor-in-Chief.
- Leave during House Examination / Class Test will be sanctioned only by the Principal on the recommendation of the Senior
- Leave for sickness must be accompanied by a medical
b. Duty Leave Rules
Participation by the students in Sports / Cultural / NSS/ NCC / Co-Curricular activities, Inter College/ University Competitions shall be considered as duty leave for the period respective competition Duty Leave, however, shall only be allowed if recommended by the concerned activity Incharge.
HOUSE EXAMINATION AND LECTURE ATTENDANCE
All the students have to appear in the House Examination which will be conducted in each semester before university examinations. House Examination is a very useful exercise as the students come to learn about their shortcomings. Moreover, House Examination is a rehearsal for the University Examinations. Every student has to appear in the House Examination and secure at least 20% marks in each subject or 25% marks in aggregate failing which he/she will be debarred from appearing in University Examination. Moreover a student who fails to show satisfactory result in House Examination shall forfeit his / her claims to fee concession or other financial assistance. The students are required to be punctual and regular in their classes. According to the University rules every student must attend 75% lectures both in theory & practical separately. The Principal can condone the actual participated days in every course including practical in respect of students who have to miss classes on account of their participation in NCC / NSS / Sports / Cultural / Academic / Co-Curricular activities.
