BEST PRACTICE 1

Student Leadership Development Programme

Colleges offer abundant opportunities for students to cultivate leadership skills through engaging in activities aligned with their interests, such as the Carnival and Leadership Development Camp organized by social service units like NSS, NCC Rovers and Rangers. These initiatives enhance abilities in events management, planning, social networking, adaptability, and hospitality, fostering comprehensive training for leadership development.

The annual Tourizmo Trigarth Carnival is a major event put on by the tourism department that gives students a chance to hone their critical-thinking, organisational, problem-solving, and leadership abilities. The funfair encourages students to take responsibility by developing and administering competitions, which fosters leadership development. There are approximately 20 competitions, including debates, painting, music, and traditional costume etc.

Collaborative learning Spaces The Institution emphasizes active learning, communication, collaboration, creativity, innovation, and a supportive learning community. This is promoted through following practices.

Peer Tutoring: Through   peer tutoring program postgraduate and undergraduate students mentor peers, providing academic assistance and utilizing physical and virtual spaces for collaboration and support in dedicated study areas.

Informal Mentoring by OSA:   Older college students with experience in specific fields also provide juniors with advice, study tips and insights on navigating the college experience by mentoring them through informal discussions.

Interdisciplinary interactions: Multidisciplinary interactions among students are encouraged to broaden perspectives and promote creative thinking beyond individual fields of study.

Online discussion forums: Online discussion forums are used for knowledge exchange and for strengthening the College’s sense of community.
