Dr. Naresh Sharma has been honoured with State-Level Teacher's Awards on the occasion of Teachers’ Day on Friday.
The Himachal Pradesh Government has announced the names of 26 distinguished teachers who will be honoured with state-level teacher awards on the occasion of Teachers’ Day on Friday (September 5, 2025).
The awards will be conferred by the Himachal Pradesh Governor, Chief Minister and Education Minister at a special ceremony to be held at Hotel Peterhoff in Shimla.
Teachers have been selected based on their performance presentations and interviews held in recent weeks. In a significant development this year, the state has also introduced awards at the college level, recognising excellence in higher education for the first time.
Dr. Naresh Sharma Associate Professor, Department of English, Government College Dharamshala has been honoured with this esteemed award.
- He is a promising teacher and uses perfect pedagogy in teaching and motivates the students to frame sentences and stories from the textual words from the prescribed texts.
- He takes the students to language lab to make them perfect in accent and pronunciation.
- He works relentlessly to train the students in communicative and spoken English and also supplies recorded lectures to remove their disturbing doubts in language.
- His results are always above the percentage of university and majority of his students pass with distinction. In the current year, his result of BA-I (Major English) remained 93.40% whereas the result of the university was 75%.
- He has developed a very easy and impressive technique to teach tenses to the students and teaches the tricks of grammar to the students of other faculties as well.
- He also takes extra as well as remedial classes for the weak students and such classes are conducted late in the evening.
- He also invites experts of languages to give wide exposure to students.
- His teaching is so effective that even the students of others sections make it a point to attend his classes.
- He has delivered more than 100 lectures as a resource person in GCTE Dharamshala, DIET Dharamshala, Dronacharaya College Rait Kangra, GC Shahpur, GC Lung, GC Nagrota Bagwan, HIET Shahpur, Army School Yol Cant, Boys School Dharamshala, TCV Naddi, Sehaj International School Naddi and in all the departments of Govt. College Dharamshala; MBA, MCA, BCA, PGDCA, BBA, B.Tech., Bio-Tech. and B.Voc. His lectures gave immense exposure to the learners.
- He remained Chief Editor of College Magazine (Bhagsu) twice and under his able guidance, the magazine of the college took new heights as he brought many changes in the structure, content and design of the magazine. He also remained chief editor of the magazine at Govt. College Nagrota Bagwan and Govt. College Shahpur. His editorship from these two colleges was inquired from the principals of these colleges.
- He is the convener of career guidance and counselling cell of the college. He arranges expert resource persons from various fields to guide the students about different competitive exams.
- In 2023, he conducted one month coaching classes for the students and results were more than satisfactory. Around 30 students could find a job after attending these classes and an MOU was signed with Nimbus Academy Chandighar to run these coaching classes. He took extra interest in these classes and himself guided the students after his classes.
- He remained assistant convener of NAAC accreditation committee of this college in 2014 and played very significant role in writing the report of NAAC. His record shows that he also remained co-ordinator of NAAC/IQAC in Government College Nagrota Bagwan for a period of 2 years.
- He also remained Staff Secretary of Government College Dharamshala for more than 10 years and always remain very active in conducting all kind of functions in the college.
- He remained Warden of Girls Hostel for 8 years and did all possible efforts to make the hostel perfect in all areas. At present, he is the Chief Warden of all hostels and takes immense interest in the smooth functioning of the hostels.
- Besides, guiding the girls of hostel, he also outreached the SAI Hostel Dharamshala to teach 60 girls for a period of 2 months. All these girls had compartments in English and the result of his efforts was that the girls could clear their compartments with first division.
